Winter adventures

Our experiences are designed to allow you to experience true nature in the way that suits you best - choose your adventure and relax in the north like nowhere else!

December-february

Best for: Northern lights safari, dog sledding, snowmobiling, ice fishing & snowshoeing

Frostviken in winter is like stepping into a silent, white world where nature sets the pace. The snow lies deep over the expances and embeds forests, bogs and mountains in a soft blanket. The mountain birches stand glistening with frost and the firs bend their branches under the weight of snow. The lakes freeze into thick ice and the landscape opens up into wide, dazzling vistas on clear, cold days.

Winter in Frostviken is also the time of the northern lights, a quiet spectacle that enhances the feeling of wilderness and space. Winter is both severe and magnificent - a place of stillness, vastness and a calmness that is difficult to find anywhere else.

Our dogs

We are a small kennel with around 15 dogs, where each individual is valued and given the time they deserve. Every dog is unique and has their own superpower—whether it’s being attentive and able to lead the entire team, having the strength of an ox and working hard at the back to move the sled forward, loving puppies and helping raise them, or being a calm and reliable companion who supports others. Every dog has a role in the pack and is equally important.

Alaskan Huskies are top athletes in the animal world and one of the most popular breeds used in world-famous sled dog races like the Iditarod in Alaska—a race spanning 1,800 kilometers!

In addition to being fast and enduring athletes, Alaskan Huskies are loyal and friendly dogs who thrive in a pack. We often say they are pure joy and love!

Food is the fuel for sled dogs, and we feed ours fresh meat—which they love. But to build a strong and healthy body, rest is just as important. We make sure every dog feels calm and safe in their kennels, without unnecessary stress. On rest days, the dogs spend time together in a large play area to strengthen important social bonds.

The dogs are a lifestyle and a never-ending passion. They are our highest priority, and we are both happy and grateful to have the honor of sharing our lives with them. We know each one inside and out and are thrilled to share their stories and zest for life with you during our tours!

Our kennel is approved by the Swedish authority that ensures that animal welfare is respected.

Feel free to follow @vildmarkhusky on Instagram for a glimpse into the dogs’ everyday lives.
